Purdue University was recently published in Educause for their innovative Jetpack application available for iOS devices that will deliver a hybrid app/e-book experience for students in the form of “Packs”. We take a look at that application as well as some other interesting products Purdue is developing in the mobile space with this episode.
In the wake of the first keynote with Tim Cook at the helm of Apple, Andy Rush, Tim Owens, and Jim Groom reflect on the tone of the company and subdued manner in which they release new products in an age where “Apple can do no wrong”. They also talk about some of the latest software enhancements that have the potential to change the way we interact. NOTE: It was reported later that evening that Steve Jobs had passed away, a somber explanation for much of what we were conjecturing in this episode.
In this pilot episode (meaning the first of its kind, thank you Jim) Tim Owens and Jim Groom discuss the format of the show but also talk a bit about native applications versus web applications and Tim’s inherent need to defend a multi-billion dollar company.
