Jim and Martha are both a part of a committee at the University of Mary Washington that is looking at the development of an online learning initiative. Online and Distance Learning is not a new concept, but it is a space where innovation has traditionally been lacking in lieu of creating a factory assembly style machine where the goal focuses less on learning and more on revenue. In this episode we discuss how UMW imagines doing this differently and how other institutions could model this approach.
Andy Rush joins Tim and Jim to talk about the world of MOOCs, Massive Open Online Courses. Where is the value in them, who are they for, and what are some of the exciting models that are taking shape in that space. If you’re at all curious about how online learning can be different, make sure to check this episode out!
